The None domain is a special domain that allows users to map IPs/ranges directly without associating the IPs with a registered domain name.
Each account may include one None domain with one or more netblocks (IPs and IP ranges). Go to your domain assets list (Assets > Domains) to determine whether the None domain has already been defined for your account. If the None domain is not listed, go to New > Domains to add it at this time.
Add the None domain using this format:
none:[netblock1,netblock2,netblock3,...]
For example, you might enter the following:
none:[64.41.134.59-64.41.134.61,64.172.28.138-64.172.28.142]
Make sure the None domain includes all IPs you want to map. Simply edit the None domain whenever you need to add more IPs.
When adding the None domain to an asset group, you can restrict the netblock in the asset group to only the IPs that are applicable to the group. For example, your corporation may include multiple distinct netblocks in which case you may want to create multiple asset groups with a different netblock in each.
The following methods are used to map IPs/ranges using the special None domain.
Map IPs defined in the None domainMap IPs defined in the None domain
You can map any of the IP addresses included in the None domain's configuration. Simply type the IPs you want to map into the Domains/Netblocks field. The IPs entered will be validated against the None domain in your account. If all of the entered IPs are included in the None domain configuration, then the map is successfully launched. If some of the IPs are not included in the configuration, then you must add those IPs to the None domain in order to map them in this way.
Map an asset group with the None domainMap an asset group with the None domain
If you added the None domain to an asset group, then select the asset group and the Domains check box to map the None domain as it is defined in the group. If the group includes multiple domains, then the service produces a separate map report for each domain in the group.
Map IPs in an asset group (temporary None domain)Map IPs in an asset group (temporary None domain)
The None domain is not required in your account to map IPs from asset groups.
Select the asset group you want to target and select the IPs check box to map the IPs in the group. The IPs are validated against your hosts assets list (Assets > Host Assets). All of the IPs from the group are enclosed into a temporary None domain created by the service. If you select multiple groups, then the service produces a separate map report for each group.
When you generate a map report, you first select the domain you want to report on and then 1 or 2 saved maps for that domain to include in the report.
To report on mapped IPs/ranges, select "No Domain" from the Domain drop-down menu.
The list of saved results to choose from may include: 1) maps produced on the user-defined None domain and 2) maps produced on the temporary None domain (IPs from asset groups). The map target in both cases appears in this format: none:[netblock1, netblock2, ...]
When the None domain is defined in your accountWhen the None domain is defined in your account
You can view and select any saved map on the None domain (user-defined and temporary), regardless of which user launched the map.
You can select any saved map on the temporary None domain (IPs from asset groups), and you can only view and select from maps that you created.
